Centuries

Centuries are a hardcore punk band from Florida. I met them in Utah and then got to see them again two days in a row in Florida. I was super impressed by their energy and how tight everything was. Their live shows are sick because they are so fucking loud, and they are really nice guys. I guess they have been a band for a while now, and at one point someone from Osceola played drums for them. Now one of the dudes who used to be in Glocca Mora plays drums. They have these shirts that have pictures from some exorcism or some shit, and it is the sickest shirt I have seen in years. Act like I didn't get one.

Centuries are the heaviness. Sort of chuggy, but not really. Lots of low end. Its like hardcore riffs and tone at punk pace, I guess. If that makes sense. I don't really care if it doesn't. Some of their stuff is almost METAL, which is tight. If you like heavy dark moshy headbanging stuff then download all the albums below. The splits only have the Centuries songs, so sorry about that. Nightmares is older. Check it out, support them if you can. Word.

Needless to say, Dawn Treader are one of the cornerstones of Maryland punk/hardcore music, no matter how active they choose to be at any given time. Maybe we will all get lucky and they will play a random show sometime soon. I heard once that they planned to play as a ten piece or something, including multiple vocalists and strings. Their music is very driving and in your face, using an obvious punk influence as a framework to explore multiple musical avenues, as is evident by their wide variety of song structures and melodies. No two DT songs sound the same. Dawn Treader is affiliated with Osceola, Army of Kashyyyk, Pansori, The Summer We Went West, Monument and Diablero. There are also other bands I'm sure, sorry if I left anyone out.

Below are all of their tracks that are in circulation, to the best of my knowledge. Instead of having one large zip file, I broke the files up into their respective albums. Please note that I only have the Dawn Treader tracks of the splits, so if anyone has the other bands' songs it would be cool if you threw them up here. They have two solo albums, one being called "Deconstructing the Coffin" and the other is either self titled or is "The Lone Islands". Below it is labeled as "The Lone Islands". Dawn Treader's sides of the D'amore and Fall on Deaf Ears splits are also down there, as well as tracks from an unreleased split that was supposed to be with Towers. The live "album" listed is not the one listed in the above discography, but is actually a live recording of their set from December 8th, 2009 at Barclay House in Baltimore when they played with Raein, 1994!, Army of Kashyyyk and Pala.

Osceola

Osceola is a screamo super group based in Maryland that has shared members with, amongst others, Tunes For Bears To Dance To, Dawn Treader and Fair Roots. As far as the music is concerned, they use pretty technical guitar work with wonderful tone and driving rhythm sections along with Mikey's mixture of yelps and singing. They have toured the U.S with Army of Kashyyk and Suis La Lune, and have put out a slew of releases. Utarid Tapes recently put out a discography tape, which you should pick up sometime. I was originally just going to put that up here, but I decided to put all of their shit because all of their splits are really good and you should check out all the bands they have worked with. So below is their Discography, "Our Words Speak Blank Stares", The Japan Tour cd, The Osceola Ep plus the track "Translucent", their splits with Army of Kashyyk, Suis La Lune, Monarchs & their 4-way split with Boy Problems, Lautrec and The Reptilian. Army of Kashyyyk

ARRRMMMYYYYYY OF KAAASSSSHHHYYYYYYYYYYKK is an emoviolence band from Baltimore. Over past year they have broken up and gotten back together more times than most of us have gotten laid, but as of right now they are together. Their next show is at Barclay House on the first of June, so make sure you check that out if you're in the neighborhood.

Army's sound is a solid mix of driving thrash and emotional hardcore breaks. They are part of the vast Dawn Treader family, sharing members with dudes from Pansori, Let's, Osceola, and a few others I'm sure. We have both seen these guys numerous times and no matter where it is everyone goes ape shit. My favorite memory of Army of Kashyyyk is by far an Outclassed show at Bearacougar's Pleasure Island when I had to stand on a washing machine in order to avoid being trampled to death.

Anyways, Army of Kashyyk rule, and they are really cool dudes, so you should give them a listen. Also, I think you can buy stuff from them, so make sure to do that. Heres a video and all their stuff I could find.

I'm a little late on posting this shit but whatever!

This is a highly anticapted split that has been in the works since Suis La Lune came over to the U.S. for their summer tour with Osceola. This just finally came out last month and it lives up the hype.

The Osceola side of this record features two of their most abrasive songs to date, and some of their strongest material by far since losing their second guitarist. Lyrically, vocalist Mikey Young focuses on themes of isolation and lost love, and the lyric sheet carries brief explanations of his lyrics, something I always like to see on a punk release.

Osceola hails from the Baltimore/D.C. area and features current/ex members of groups like Army of Kashyyyk and Tunes for Bears to Dance To. They've got a '06-'08 discography coming out soon on Utarid Tapes, so look out for it!

Suis La Lune's sole song on this release is "Friends", and it is a continuation in the progression of their sound. This one sounds like it would have fit right in on the Heir 10", but it definitely has an atmosphere all it's own. Definitely one of their strongest songs.

I just recently got my clear copy of this record (out of 50!) in the mail and it looks and sounds great. Both labels definitely have some black copies left, although I'm sure that by now all clear copies are gone!
