Dead Peasants

Yo Dead Peasants are the fucking homies. Baltimore's loudest, blackest, Seatonest black metal. They are a three piece but the drummer dipped out for a little bit to tour with his other band, so for a hot minute the band is going to be a two piece and I cannot wait to see them play on the 28th.

Alright so honestly the tape is not as good as them live. Granted I first heard them on a shit cassette player while I was tanked, but still, wasnt really feelin it. Then I saw them live and it was really cool and really fun. Each time I have watched them play they have gotten better and better, and louder too. They are one of the only bands that I watch somewhat frequently and contemplate bringing earbuds or some shit.

So, if you are unfamiliar with the dudes all you really need to know is that they are / have been in alot of Baltimore area bands for quite some time now and are really nice guys. The Seatons were in Sawhorse and alot of other projects, and are really good at their guitar. Really good at being loud. The drummer is a fucking machine, no lie, and does some of the best blast beats I have ever seen. Trust me homie, I know a thing or two about blasts.

So check out the metal! They keep on growing as a band so I would imagine that they are going to continue to put out evil releases. Check it out. Please. Its really good and worth your time. It would be awesome if you could buy some of their merch too, becasue these cats really deserve it. Below is a link to their bandcamp because I can't really up and download stuff from where I'm at (WORK SON). Collar shirt during the day, then its back into my pants with a crotch hole the size of a fist. Posh punk. Word.

The Human Excuse

The Human Excuse is one of the bazillion projects of Justin Lloyd. He was in bands like Age Sixteen and Sawhorse and is hella involve in the Maryland scene. Homeboy runs Rainbow Bridge records and is a stable in mid-atlantic noise stuff. I've known him for a while and he's a pretty dope guy. Human Excuse is " like a weirder and nosier cross between Sigur Ros, Owen, The Wind-Up Bird and Mount Eerie". Most of these songs are about a mutual friend of ours, which is pretty cool. Shhhhhh. You should give this a listen, it's really cool. Follow one of his media outlets because he is always on the internet and knows whats up. He does designs and shit too, so if you want some quality stuff made on the cheap hit him up. Word.

Sea Breezes

Yo, hot new Baltimore skrims. Sea Breezes Justin from Age Sixteen, Sawhorse, A Perfect Kiss and like 25 noise/ambient projects. I don't know any of the other dudes, but one of them is Tommy from Age Sixteen's brother. The other dudes in this band were in Distance of, Safari Zone and Shadow Gov't. I honestly havnt heard these recordings yet, but, I had the opportunity to hear some demoish stuff form one of their practices and it was pretty sweet. Its solid skrimz mixed with ambient stuff and it flows really nicely. They always scream though, never singing or any other type of vocal style that can be used by a band like this. Honestly, this band sounds alot like Age Sixteen, but its not a bad thing at all. It's not a rip off, but more of a logical progression from that band all that stuff. Same guitar tone, kind of, and similair overall sound. I personally was a huge Age Sixteen fan, so its really nice to have this band be around. Check it out and support this band whenever you can. They are actually playing in Baltimore tomorrow evening at the Bell Foundry. Heres a video and the demo.

Sawhorse (NOT THE EARLY 90'S SAWHORSE)

Photobucket

Not to be confused with the seminal Ebullition based Bay Area band from the early 90's, Sawhorse is a post-rock outfit from Baltimore featuring members of Age Sixteen, Surf Nazis on Ecstasy, A Perfect Kiss, Lilu Dallas, and more. I think the comparison they probably hear the most is Godspeed!, but I also hear elements of Sparrows Swarm and Sing, Mono, maybe even a little Mogwai. This is really amazing stuff! Their debut album is being released in mid December at a show hosted by the Metro Gallery. The recording below was captured by Zoe, lead singer of The Lost Tourists at Sawhorse's most recent show (last Sunday). There is also video to accompany the audio, and I will hopefully be posting this pretty soon after i talk to Zoe about it. This set was absolutely incredible. They had an entire room of people completely silent and captivated for 28 minutes (except for the couple sucking face somewhere towards the back of the room).
