Hot Cross

Hot Cross was a hardcore band from Philadelphia that formed after Saetia broke up. They also shared members with Joshua Fit For Battle, Off Minor, Halo of Snakes, Neil Perry, You and I, and Interpol. Yeah, Interpol. The drummer of Hot Cross was their original drummer, but he left before the first record was cut. Cool, huh?

Hot Cross' sound was a mix of fast New England hardcore and virtuoso guitar work. Alot of their material is known for the battling guitar parts. If you have never heard of this band, you should check out wither Cryonics or Fair Trades and Fairwells. Below is everything they put out and a video. The song from the Holy Shroud split is the same song that was on the Protect compilation.

You And I

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

You and I was a screamo band that started sometime in the 90s. They played a heavier kind of screamo music, but also had some very chilled out clean parts. As far as vocals go, it varies very nicely between chaotic screaming and melodic singing. I bought their discography in Philadelphia last weekend in some tight record store. These guys were really influential in the screamo scene, due to the fact that after they broke up in '98, they went on to form/play in Neil Perry, Hot Cross, In First Person, and This Ship Will Sink. I can't find any videos, sorry guys. But on the bright side, last night I saw a bumper sticker that says "Yinz are in Stiller Country".
Also, Suis La Lune is leaving in like a week, so make sure you DO NOT miss the second leg of their tour with Army of Kashyyyk, if you go to Frostburg Sunday you will be seeing us!

Neil Perry

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Neil Perry was a screamo band from New Jersey that got their name from a suicidal teenager in that Robin Williams movie "The Dead Poet Society". Pretty br007 huh? Anywho, Neil Perry was really fast and thrashy on some songs, while in other songs they sound alot more melodic and junk. Neil Perry was formed back in '98 when You And I broke up, but they have a ton of affiliated bands, including Hot Cross, Joshua Fit For Battle, and Welcome The Plague Year. I can't tell you how many releases they have. I know they did a split with Joshua Fit For Battle and some other bands. Level Plane put out a 40 song discography called Lineage Situation. I really like this discography because of the differences in the recording quality of the songs. Below I have a four part video that came as a special feature with the discography, followed by Lineage Situation. They have some copies of Lineage on Amazon, I just bought one actually. If we have any readers who are into collecting records and shit, keep an eye out for anything put out by Neil, this shit is mad rare.
