Russian Circles is an amazing post-rock outfit from Chicago. On "Enter", they go from dreamy buildups to bone-crushing riffs. On their latest effort "Station", a noticeably less "metal" approach finds the band using twinkly riffs and feedback and softening their attack without losing any of their power. I have seen Russian Circles live twice and they are absolutely phenomenal to watch. After the departure of the original bassist following the release of their initial LP, "Enter", Brian Cook (Botch, These Arms are Snakes) stepped in to record "Station" and even toured with the band on their last tour (with Daughters).
The Upper Ninety 7" was released in between the two LP's and features two of Russian Circle's shortest songs.
