мища Bandcamp

Not really a cool update, and I kind of hate myself for doing this, but I updated the мища bandcamp and it has all of our stuff on it now. I did this because the links for our older stuff are dead. I'm trying to get ahold of the live album so I can put it up on there too, but yeah, I'm gonna be keeping that thing current. So yeah, sorry for posting about my own band, but I figured it would be easy for me to spread the word about that shit if I use Chug. There are around 80 free downloads left.

I guess while I'm on the subject I should mention that we are in the process of recording a 7 inch LP called "Joyless". When it is done I'll do an actual post about it with the free download and then information regarding the purchase of the record / tape. Cool. Word.

Mare - II

Hey, so do you remember Mare? I posted about them a while ago. It's James, Matt and Val. Ring any bells? Well, they recorded another demo with Jordan (Shy Violet) and shit is the jam.

I suppose this release is technically ridiculously skramz. It has most of the characteristics of a good skramz record : lo-fi self recording, probably not going to ever be properly released, the band broke up too soon, and awesome. The dudes recorded these 8 songs (before anyone says anything, there is a track that has two songs on it) right before Valentine left Baltimore for Providence. I'm still pissed that I missed their last show by like, literally 30 minutes. I got to town right as they ended, and I was irate.

But yeah this shit is the shit. Mare is awesome because it is super straight forward, which is awesome in a time where bands seem like they are beating around the bush and are putting filler into songs. This shit is just like, wham, right here. And also, and most importantly, is that they aren't trying super hard to be something. Like it isnt dudes being like "Yo, lets make a screamo band that sounds like this band and this band with some of this genre". Its like, "Yo lets play some songs and try to get better at our instruments", and thats exactly what happened. Val's guitar playing is so much "better", in my opinion, than the previous record, James is way more solid on the drums, and Matt takes the bass for longer, doper walks. The vocals are still really cool, but I guess I can say with confidence that they sound better on this release. I mean, this record sounds like every track was recorded and stuff and everyone in the room was like "Yup, thats it".

I don't really know what else to say about this band. It fucking sucks that they broke up, but I get it. It was time for Val to move on. I guess I was surprised that he was in MD for that long to begin with, but I miss him. Mad love for the dude since he let me borrow some of his drum stuff for tour this summer. I don't think that this will ever be put on anything physical, but don't quote me on that. I wouldn't be surprised if, down the road, a tape appears. I also wouldn't be surprised if a reunion show would happen in the event Val comes back. But yeah, check this shit out, if not for the fact that it is the shit then just do it because its my best friend and another really good friend. Matt, I would say you are a best friend but I mean, I have never even seen where you sleep and that is a requirement. Word.

Mare

Alright so I'm not talking about either of the bands called Mare that are on Last.fm. I'm talking about Mare, the new band from Baltimore, Mare. They don't have any web presence yet and are playing their first show soon. James, who plays guitar in мища, plays drums in this band, then this dude Val who lives at the Bell (awesome dude) pays guitar and Matt, who is in a Blink 182 cover band or something (for real though), plays bass. Mare is a screamo band, kind of old school but not really. Melodic yet harsh. Its tight as shit, not gonna lie. You'll like it, trust me. Check out their demo, its pretty impressive. Don't be a fucking dick hole and actually download this, for real. Word.

мища Tour CD

So we just got back from our US tour, shit was bananas. We had to skip out on the WV and VA dates, and we are really bummed about that, but other than that shit was amazing. We met so many awesome people, stayed at great places and played with some really killer bands. We love all of you, really. We made this cd for our tour, and I wanted to throw it up on here. The cd is collection of all the songs we recorded with Mike York. It has our songs from our splits with We Were Skeletons, Innards, and Te Lloraria un Puto Rio, as well as two other songs that are going to be on various compilations and stuff. The artwork is the x-ray of James' fucked up foot.

Since we ran out of money we made a big cartel thingy so people can buy our stuff online. There are two of them actually: we have an independent one, and then we also threw some stuff up on the Unity Through Harmony big cartel as well.

Now that tour is over I can chug more, so expect more stuff soon. Word.

Te Lloraría un Puto Río / мища Split

***EDIT***
I wrote this draft before tour and forgot about it, and just now am at a spot with internet and stuff
****&^$$£%£^$£&&£"^%£$^****

Alright, so the mnwa tour starts next week, and I am not going to be around a computer again until August. This is basically going to be my last post until I get back to WA, but I would hope that Carl nuts up and does some posts.

This is the split between мища and Te Lloraría un Puto Río. Funny thing is, in order to spell both the band's names correctly you gotta copy/paste. TLUPR is ex Arse Morearia, I've posted their 4 way split before. There are just two songs on this release because we wanted it to be a 5 inch, but that kinda fell through. Friends For Life is putting it out on tape, which is fucking awesome. I think mnwa will have some copies for tour.

The tlupr song is fucking crazy. So much shit going on. They keep it jazzy and technical as balls, but are also really melodic. Top notch, for real. The mnwa song is real dark man. Thanks Mike. I think tlupr have broken up, but I'm not sure. They have another song that has yet to be put on a release, which I hope finds a home soon. But yeah, check out the split below. If you want to buy a copy of the tape either get in touch with Reid at FFL or maybe pick one up from us on tour. Word.

Pussy Babies

I have been sick all weekend. I feel like I am dying. The coldest of head colds. Last week Matsuri and Father;Lonesome played in my living room. There were six of us here, so we sat on the couch and played Magic while Matsuri and Father played. I'm going to throw up some F;L in the next few days, I've just been Jabba The Hut in my weakened state. Heres Matsuri's entire set:

Anyways, this post is about Pussy Babies, which is made up of Cheese and I. You may know Cheese from his late label Unity Through Harmony, his bands An Archer's History or Our Parents Forgot Us, or from being the мища roadie and manager on all of our musical endeavors excluding our most recent tour. I wasn't going to ever post these but Cheese is going back to jail and I miss him already. FREE PIMP CHEESE.

We started this project last summer but never really did anything aside from fuck around every once in a while. Recently Cheese rode his bike up to Olympia from Santa Cruz with his friend and he lived with me for like two months. During the Stanley Cup we got drunk and wrote these two songs. Each one took a day. We wanted to write more but we never had the time. I also wanted to record them decently but he left to go back to Pennsylvania before anything could go down.

This shit isn't that good, but its cool. Pretty simple and kinda sloppy. Pretty jankity recordings but its not horrible. Sounds decent for a bedroom with a single microphone. We recorded them so we could remember them later, but I wanted to put these up en memorium. I hope that whenever we meet up again we can do more. The three tracks are below. Word.

Innards / мища - 424/7 Split

I don't really know what to talk about right now. Vancouver just won game two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs because the Boston goalie fucked up super bad. Idiot.

This split is going to be put out on 7 inch by Word Problems and Texas Toast. Innards is from Fort Worth, Texas and мища is from Baltimore, MD. If you don't know these bands you can check out previous posts where we actually gave enough shits to describe the groups. We were hoping to have the wax by our combined tour, but complications here and there have pushed the record's release back to like the end of the month or something. I don't really know. мища has one song and Innards put two tracks on this split. Seeing as we wont have the vinyl of this release, both bands are going to be selling it on alternative mediums. If you can't figure it out, 424/7 is, obviously, 420 424/7

I'm posting this now for two reasons, the most important being that it has already been posted up on some other blogs so theres no point in me waiting any longer. The second is promote tour I guess. I would have liked to have put up a buy here link so we can get that money, but none exists yet. When its for sale I'll edit this post with a link. We Were Skeletons / мища Split

This has already leaked here and there, but I figured it would be cool to do a post about this split myself. I don't know if the pre-orders have been sent out yet, but the release show was on March 26th in Baltimore. Aside from the two bands on the split, The Blue Letter, Dawn Treader, Pyramids, and Pansori played. All of the bands were awesome. There are some pictures from the show floating around facebook, but I have yet to see any videos. Both bands are three piece screamo groups. We Were Skeletons incorporates hardcore elements that make them sound like Off Minor and stuff like that. They are from Lancaster, Pa.I feel weird tlaking about мища's music because I play in that band, but we play violent and grindy screamo music. For the most part мища is from Baltimore, MD.

I don't know which side is the A side and which is the B, but lets just call the WWS side the A side. Their first song, "Wolves", is short and aggressive. The second song, "The Ghost of Jean Glam", is fucking heavy as shit. How many of these guitar tracks are just feedback? These songs are their best work yet (I haven't listened to the songs from the Saddest Landscape split, although I hear its floating around somewhere. I'm sure those are amazing as well).

Our side (мища's) stars with the song "A Mid Winter Night's Dream". We had a video of this song from the day we wrote it and I'm pretty sure it was "Girls Don't Buy Weed They Just Smoke It". Title didn't stick. Anyways, this song was the one that Dawn Treader jumped in on at the end. Its heavy. The second song is "...At Least We Got Capri Suns". Fun fact: The title is a reference to our short stay in Sierra Blanca's immigration holding cells. This song is straight rockabilly.

Mike York from Pianos Become the Teeth recorded all of the songs, and he also mastered ours. I don't know if he mastered We Were Skeleton's. Ben Sears did the art for the split, he has a pretty boss tumblr or whatever with pictures he drew. You can snag the 7-inch from Top Shelf or Black With Sap. If you do, you can help both labels be able to put out more releases. Womp Womp. I had to use megaupload because my internet hates me again. Sorry.

DEERS! / Animal Lover / Pansori/ мища / ColorChromatic 5 Way Split

After like a year of waiting this split, Bear19, is finally finished. You can pick up a copy here or from the bands at shows after Bear Records sends em out. The entire lp is just under a half hour long, with twelve songs. You can download it below.

Side A of the record is devoted to the California bands. DEERS! starts things off with three blistering tracks. Their sound has matured with their final recordings, as you can clearly hear, with the lack of general chaos and high pitched screaming. The songs are much more technical and kind of twinkly, although they are still very driving and intense. ColorChromatic follow those tracks up with 4 of their own. Post-Hardcore or Punk at its finest, CC compliments DEERS! nicely with their melodic tunes. Their songs have a very heavy punk influence, although at some times the vocals almost sound like Daryl Palumbo. Someone told me they sound like Mourning For The Masses.

Side B starts out with my band, мища,giving three songs. We recorded two of these tracks a year ago when this release was originally going to be a split with Bears!, but that fell through. We recoded the other song in the spring when we did the Oppenheimer Limit split. I like these songs. Animal Lover is next with a really cool almost stoner metal track. Really buzzy and rough sounding, the vocals on "Rain Queen" are super low in the mix but still sounds dope. Their song is just really cool stoner punk IMO. Bob your head shit. Pansori finish up the split with an eight minute epic. Post-rock Screamo at its finest. I love their recordings because you can hear the violin really well. Their track is pretty much one long dreary crescendo, building up to a point that it almost gives you chills.

This album is really nice to smoke weed to. I haven't heard it on vinyl yet but I did hear the old test pressing and it sounded cool. If you like the split you should support Bear Records so that he can continue to put out cool records and be an actual DIY label. Don't force him to get a day job.

мища/Pansori Winter Tour

So my band is going on tour with Pansori this winter and we need help with some dates. It would be cool if you could either help us out or come out to one of our shows and get shitty with us. The dates and locations are as follows:

December 30th - HELP US BOOK - CT RI NJ NY
December 31st - Bear Records New Years Eve Show - The Whackiest Castle, Allston MA
January 1st - HELP US BOOK - Philadelphia or surrounding area, PA
January 2nd - HELP US BOOK - Baltimore MD

we would love to play at your house or space or whatever. fuck guarantees to death, we just want to chill. Both bands will have merchandise of some sorts to sell, as far as I know. I don't know about Pansori, but these are going to be the only shows that we are playing until our really long hot box tour this summer with Innards. If you got the hookup or know someone who does either get ahold of us on myspace, comment on this post, on email me at hey_waitress@mail.com

ps. The lineup for the Bear Records show is still very much open, so if you want to get on that shit let me or bear records know and we will see what we can do.

мища Discographie So Far & Split with Oppenheimer Limit

This is a post about my band again. Our friend from Noise Park Activies made us a discography cd prior to the recordings we did this spring for the Oppenheimer Limit(Ex-Gumilinski) split and the Bear Records 5 way. He drew a sick picture of us playing and hand painted all the cds. We sold out of all of those on tour. I think that he made more. Before we went on the road we made tapes of the Oppenheimer Limit split because Chucky The Rat never sent us any copies, if there were even any made. We have a few copies of that laying around, but if you want to buy anything you should just talk to Bear Records or Unity Through Harmony. We recently recorded for a 7" with We Were Skeletons which is slated for New Years, and the Bear Records split with Color Chromatic, Pansori, DEERS! and Animal Lover is supposed to be out by the end of November (we made tapes, and the East Coast bands/Bear Records have copies). Below is the split with Oppenheimer Limit and the Doscpgraphie So Far cd, along with a video of us in Missouri. THANKZ CHIRS MOORE. Word

мища - New Songs

So we just got the unmastered tracks for our split with Bears! and James put them up on his blog. I don't have the mp3s yet so if you would like to have them you can get em here. You can hear them on our myspace too. Hopefully we will get them mastered soon so we can send them to Bear Records and get this split pressed and shit. Word.

мища

мища is 2 parts Vikings! and 1 part Drug Money. I play drums in this band, and we have been around for about a year. At first it was just James and I, but then Alex joined the band after like 3 shows or something. We did a New England tour this summer and got to play with some really great bands like Pathos, C'est La Guerre, The Sharpest, and We Were Skeletons. Our name was supposed to mean "bear", but when it was written to was written incorrectly. So when you write our name it dosn't mean anything, but if you say it (its pronounced Mischa) it does mean "bear". Before we went on hiatus we played our last show at David Krasner's house with Pianos Become the Teeth, Age Sixteen, Wren Lloyd, and Pansori. We also got the chance to play with Matsuri and Moldar(RIP) on their summer tour. That shit was bomb. We are trying to play a show or two when I go home in December, and we are getting ready to book another tour for this summer. We were going to go to Europe but its starting to look like we won't have enough money. If you have a house or can get shows, wherever, and you wouldn't mind us stopping by you should talk to us on our myspace. Before I left we recorded two songs for a 7" split with Bears!, which is going to be put out on Bear Records next year. You can buy all of our stuff from Unity Through Harmony, and you can get our mini disc from Noise Park Activities, who we still owe like twenty five dollars.
Heres a video from a while back in Hampton's Garage.
