Ken Burns

Ken Burns is a screams band from Boston area that is named after the documentary film maker Ken Burns. Dudes from Sneeze, Apart, Who Goes There?, and The Saddest Landscape are in this band. It's cool though, because its MVB. The homies recorded their first release with Will Kill at Dead Air Studios, so you know this track is oozing with skreem cred. Dripping.

I really dig their record alot. It's tight because its raw at times but then draws influence from alot of really dope bands and subsets of post-hardcore. The first time I heard this record all I could think about was how this band is going to fill the hole that was left when Beau Navire went inactive. Stylistically they remind me of alot of the earlier European screamo bands mixed in with some of the better melodic groups over here in the states. Nothing too flashy, just really good songs. Its tight because alot of times you have bands that have fast/chill transitions and its good enough but nothing too dope, but Ken Burns has some of the better song structure I've heard recently.

Sneeze

Sneeze is from the Boston area (there is another Sneeze from Australia, but I'm not talking about them). One of the dudes from L'antietam is in this band. I got to see them at one of their earlier shows in Allston and it was really tight. They are a pop punk band and kick alot of ass. Don't expect them to sound anything like L'antieram. It's sing along pop punk, you know, like playing Tony Hawk or something and zoning out but still mumbling along with the song. Their new album, "I'm going to kill myself", is one of the better pop punk releases I have heard in a hot minute. Honestly, even if you aren't into like post pop punk you should still give this a listen. I don't see how anyone could hate this band. you can buy their new release on tape, I think bear is selling their old stuff, and they are pressing the new LP at some point. I don't know. But Sneeze is cool so check them out if you are into like Laurel or Let's or other like gritty pop punk stuff. Check Sneeze out, support them in any/every way you can. Word.

L'antietam - Dark Brew & Rock Bottom

L'antietam finally released their final albums, Dark Brew and Rock Bottom. Remember when they were gonna do a split with Loma? Anyways, both these releases were years in the making and I was caught totally off guard when I heard these records were out. Well worth the wait. A fitting end to a great band (unless they are back together, then yeah). You can buy them, I don't know where but you could easily find it, and I would suggest you do. This shit will sell out soon. Check it out, if you don't know L'antietam you should get their back catalog. The dudes are in other bands, like Bedroom Eyes and Sneeze, so check those bands out too. Word.
